Until
now, there has been no identifiable and consistent symbol for the fight
against prostate cancer. The blue ribbon expresses our commitment to
beating the most commonly diagnosed non-skin cancer in America. Click
here for more information on the "Blue Ribbon" Symbol.
Warning Signs:
The majority of men who develop prostate cancer do not have any physical
complaints, this makes an annual exam by your family physician very
important. The majority of prostate cancers are found during a prostate
exam or with a blood test that measures PSA (prostate specific antigen)
levels.
While not specific to
prostate cancer, there are some symptoms that should be reported to your
physician.
- Frequent urination,
especially at night
- Difficulty in controlling
the flow of urine
- Inability to urinate
- Urgency to urinate
- Frequent pain or stiffness
in the lower back, hips or upper thighs
